CodsallCodsall is in the south-west of Staffordshire, very close to the city of Wolverhampton and only a short distance from the Shropshire border. Codsall was mentioned in the Domesday book of 1086, when only six people were recorded as living there; now the population is over 12,000. The population grew steadily after 1849, when the Shrewsbury to Birmingham Railway (later part of the Great Western Railway) was built with a station at Codsall, which brought people from Wolverhampton and the Black Country. Codsall also has horticultural connections in that Russell Lupins and the Bishop Delphiniums were first grown at the local nurseries.
